Turning Grief into Gratitude- July 28, 2020
Angela Daneault, Administrative Assistant in the New England Region shared the story of the loss of her father due to COVID-19 with us back in May. Now Angela and her family are continuing to give back to the medical field that fought so hard to care for her dad. Angela states that since her brothers and she lost their Dad back in May due to COVID-19, they have continued in their journey of turning their “Grief into Gratitude” for the amazing Frontline Heroes of Catholic Medical Center ICU. Since May they have continued to send weekly appreciation gifts to the ICU COVID floors, from flowers, pizzas, cupcakes, etc. They have also done two successful free mask giveaways to the community thanks to Granite United Way! The family is continuing to find ways to give back and recognize these amazing humans who continue to risk their lives daily to care for our loved ones. Most recently they teamed up with Star of HOPE based in Manhattan and painted stars of hope and healing with some of the staff at CMC Hospital. They donated all the painted stars to be hung in the Skybridge for all to hopefully gain a smile and let them know we will continue to do what we can to provide some kindness in these crazy times. Angela says, "The photos touch me in so many ways because we were there thanking them and in turn, this amazing nurse painted a star to thank us. Truly humbling!"
Custard would like to give a huge shoutout to Angela and her family for going above and beyond after the tragic loss of their father. The continuation to give back in the hopes of their grief turning into gratitude is truly inspiring.
